1. Product Overview
SalamTool iOS is a mobile OCR tool for invoices, paper documents, images, and PDFs. You can scan paper files with the camera or import images and PDFs from Files or Photos.
The app supports text extraction, invoice recognition, searchable PDF creation, export, and saved record management. Main areas include Home, Invoice Folder, History, Me, and Help & Support.
2. Login and Account
You can sign in, register, or reset your password with an email account. Nickname is optional during registration and supports up to 20 characters.
After signing in, you can use cloud sync, invoice folder sync, history sync, account security, subscription management, and user feedback. Without login, some local scan and preview features remain available, while saving, sync, and account features may be limited.
3. Home
Home provides quick access to common actions.
- Camera Scan: take photos of paper documents.
- Import PDF/Image: select PDFs or images from system files.
- Photo Library: choose one or more images from Photos.
- Recent Scans: quickly review recently generated OCR records.
4. Camera Scan
Camera mode supports text extraction, invoice recognition, document scanning, and single-page or batch capture.
For better results, keep the page clear and fully visible, avoid strong glare and heavy tilt, and use batch mode for multi-page documents.
5. Import Files and Images
Use Import PDF/Image or Photo Library from Home. After selection, SalamTool previews the file and lets you choose a processing mode.
- Extract Text: extract copyable text from images or PDFs.
- Invoice Recognition: parse invoice number, supplier, date, amount, tax number, and line items.
- Searchable PDF: preserve the original look while adding a searchable text layer.
6. OCR Result Page
After recognition, the result page shows recognized text, page count, confidence, and preview. You can copy, share, export Word, save PDF, save to system folders, or continue processing invoice results.
If the result is incomplete, try a clearer image or a higher-resolution PDF.
7. Invoice Recognition
Invoice recognition extracts structured fields such as supplier name, invoice number, date, due date, currency, subtotal, VAT, discount, total amount, line items, quantity, unit price, tax rate, line amount, TRN/VAT No., and QR code data.
The result page supports preview, field editing, saving to the invoice folder, and export to Excel, PDF, Searchable PDF, and Word. Exported content uses the currently previewed and edited fields.
8. Invoice Folder
The invoice folder stores recognized invoices. It shows supplier name, invoice number, amount, date, thumbnail, and sync status.
You can search invoice number, supplier, date, amount, tax number, customer name, item description, and raw recognized text. You can open details, swipe left to delete, and review cloud sync status. Deleted invoices are removed locally and from the server after sync.
9. History
History stores OCR records including invoices, extracted text, and searchable PDFs.
- Search by title or recognized text.
- Filter by All, Invoice, Text, or PDF.
- Open record details and searchable PDFs.
- Check sync status.
10. Me
The Me tab includes subscription plan, cloud storage, account and security, language preference, and Help & Support.
Language preference currently supports English, Simplified Chinese, and Arabic in the app.
11. User Feedback
Submit feedback from Me - Help & Support - User Feedback. You can add up to 3 images, each under 2 MB.
Helpful feedback includes the page where the issue happened, operation steps, whether it can be reproduced consistently, screenshots, and error messages.
12. Tips
Use complete, clear, unobstructed invoice images. For multilingual invoices, keep the original invoice area and avoid cropping away title, tax number, or amount regions.
For PDFs, prefer clear scans or original electronic PDFs. Check and edit key fields before export. To view invoices and history across devices, sign in and wait for sync to finish.
